As we grow older many of us will need more and more assistance. The prospect of finding someone to help us and interviewing caregivers and then hiring them from a company or a service of some kind seems daunting and scary. This is especially true as we hear more and more stories of elder abuse by caregivers.

One thing to remember is that you can choose your caregiver. It can be anyone that you choose. Your caregiver does not have to come from a company or a service. You can choose a family member or a friend. Those individuals that naturally begin to help around the house with lawn care and cleaning and trips to the doctor can be hired and paid to be your caretaker.
